What is a Workspace?

A Workspace is a tab located at the top of the terminal display. You can use workspaces to display specific groupings of applications such as Quote Lists, News and Chart displays. Multiple workspaces can be run, although only one is displayed at anyone point in time. This is identified when the tab is highlighted.

How do I save my workspaces correctly?

When saving workspaces on Proquote Global, follow the steps detailed below:
- Place you cursor over the workspace you want to save
- Using your mouse, right click. A list of options will appear
- Place your cursor on the third option on the option titled “Save As” and a further 2 options will appear

To Local Disk:

- First select “To Local Disk”.  A new window will appear.  
- Make sure you have named your workspace.
- Click on” Save” at the bottom right hand corner of this window.  
- If the workspace has already been saved before, a pop up message will appear stating that this workspace already exists. Do you want to replace it? Select “Yes” and the window will close.

To My Online:
- Select “To my Online”. A new window will appear.  
- Make sure you have named your workspace.
- Click on “OK” on the top right hand corner of the window.
- If the workspace has already been saved before, a pop up message will appear stating that this workspace already exists. Press OK to overwrite. Select “OK” and the window will close.
- Repeat the above steps to save all of your workspaces.

How do I create a new workspace?

To create a new workspace, place your cursor over an existing workspace and using your mouse, right click and select “Add” from the drop down list.

A new workspace will appear titled “Workspace…” followed by a number.

How do I rename a workspace?

To rename an existing workspace that has already been saved, place your cursor over the workspace you wish to rename and using your mouse, right click and select “Rename” from the drop down list.

Your workspace heading will be highlighted in blue allowing you to delete the existing heading and rename the workspace.
Please note: you cannot rename a workspace if you have not saved it first.

How do I link my windows together so when I enter a code for a stock, all the other windows update with that particular company’s data?

To do this, you first need to open all the windows you want.  For example:

  • Stock Finder

  • Time & Sales

  • News

  • Graph

Once all the windows are open, using your mouse, right click on the background in one of the windows and a list of options will appear.
Select the option titled “Link”, which will be located near the bottom of the list.

Repeat this process in all the other windows.

Once complete, change the stock to another company and all the windows will update with that company’s data.

Please make sure you save any changes you make.

How do I create a list of companies that I wish to monitor?

Proquote Global offers 2 types of lists.

  1. You wish to keep an eye on certain companies but have no position in

  2. You have open positions in certain companies / wish to create a fantasy portfolio and you want to see whether you are making a profit / loss

Quote List:
A “Quote List” allows you to view a list of companies you want to keep an eye on but have no position in. To create a “Quote List” follow the steps below:

  • Select “File” at the top left hand corner of the Proquote Global toolbar

  • From the drop down list, select “New”

  • A new window will appear with a list of items in alphabetical order

  • Select “Quote” from the list

  • Then press “OK”

  • A new window will open with a row of headings. Using your mouse, click under the heading “Symbol” and a green bar will appear.

  • Enter the code of the company you wish to view

  • Then press return on your keyboard. The details of that company will appear

  • The green bar will move to the row below and you can enter another company code

  • You can repeat the above process until you have listed all the companies you want to view

  • If you do not know the code of the company select from the toolbar the icon which looks like a magnifying glass.  A new window will appear and in the “Search for” field at the top left, enter the full name of the company and press return

Portfolio List:
A “Portfolio List” allows you to view a list of companies that you have open positions in or wish to create a fantasy portfolio and you want to see whether you are making a profit / loss. To create a “Portfolio List” follow the steps below:

  • Select “File” at the top left hand corner of the Proquote Global toolbar

  • From the drop down list, select “New”

  • A new window will appear with a list of items in alphabetical order

  • Select “Portfolio” from the list

  • Then press “OK”

  • A new window will open with a row of headings.  Using your mouse, click under the heading “Symbol” and a green bar will appear.

  • Enter the code of the company you wish to monitor

  • Then press return on your keyboard

  • A new window will open.  On this window you would need to enter details of the trade – for example:  Buy 2000 shares at a price of 180.25.  You can also enter any additional costs you have had to incur plus notes regarding the trade.

  • Once you have entered all these details press “OK”

  • The details of the trade will appear plus whether  you are making a profit / loss

  • Using your mouse, click under the name of the first company symbol and a green bar will appear.

  • You can repeat the above process until you have listed all the companies you have open positions in or wish to create a fantasy portfolio for

I have created a Quote / Portfolio List. How do I change the headings?

You can add, delete and move headings on the Quote / Portfolio List.  To do this, follow the steps below:

Add a Heading:
To add a new heading, follow the steps below:

  • Place your cursor over the heading you wish your new heading to appear next to (your new heading will appear to the right of the heading you place your cursor over)

  • Right click on your mouse and a list of options will appear

  • Select “Add Column” from the list

  • A new window will appear with various tabs at the top. Select the “All” tab

  • Under the tabs will appear a list of items which you can select from. This list is in alphabetical order

  • Either scroll down the list or using your keyboard enter the first letter of the word you are searching for. This will take you to the first word of that letter. For example, if you want the word “Bid” select “B” key on your keyboard and it will take you to “BB Gid”. Then scroll down to find the heading you are looking for.

  • Once you have found the heading, select the row so that it is highlighted in blue, and click on “OK” at the bottom right hand corner of the window.

  • A new column will appear with the heading you selected at the top of that column

Delete a Heading:
To delete a heading, simply place your cursor over the heading you want to remove and using your mouse, right click. Then select “Delete Column” from the drop down list. The heading will be deleted.

Move Headings:
To move a heading, simply place your cursor over the heading you want to move, left click keeping your finger on the mouse and drag the heading to where you want to position it, then release. The heading will now be posotioned in its new location.

My Time & Sales window is only displaying data for the past month?

First check on the top left hand corner of Time & Sales to establish how the data is displayed.  This will be displayed next to the code of the stock.

You need to change this to show “Latest”.

To do this, follow the steps below:

  • First close the Time & Sales window by selecting the “X” on the top right hand corner of this window.

  • At the top left hand corner of Proquote, you will see various headings such as File, Edit, View, Tools etc.  Select “Setup” and from the drop down list that appears, select Preferences.

  • A new window will appear titled “Configuration”.  At the top of this window will be various tabs. Select the tab titled “Time & Sales”.

Configuration Time and Sales

  • On this tab will appear the frequency of your Time & Sales data.  By clicking on the down arrow, a drop down list will appear.  From this list, select “Latest”.

  • Then press “Apply” and then “OK” at the bottom of this window.

  • Open a new Time & Sales window and the data will have changed to show more than a month.
